Claude for DealersSession preparation

Spy then sell.

Competitive intelligence with Claude Code.

A hands-on session on tracking competitor inventory and finding the markets where you can win share. You will leave with a working scraper and a view of where your next sale is sitting on somebody else’s lot.

Who it's for
Dealer marketing, sales, and ops leaders
Prerequisites
None. No coding background required
Before you arrive
Six setup steps, done on your own

What you’ll build.

Four things, all of them yours at the end of the session, all of them running on your own machine and your own accounts.

A working scraper

It pulls competitor inventory data automatically. Real code running against real sites, not a slide about what a scraper would do.

Your sales history, queryable

Your own CRM export loaded into a database you can actually ask questions of. The more history you bring, the better it works.

The gap, side by side

Where competitors are stocking strong and you are not, broken out by model and trim.

And it keeps working

This is not a one-off report. It evolves as you run it, so over time you can see what competitors are selling through and where you can conquest them.

What to bring.

This session is for dealer marketing, sales, and ops leaders. You do not need to know how to code. You do need to be comfortable following setup instructions on your own, before the session.

  1. A laptop

Mac or Windows. Not a tablet.

  2. A sales export from your CRM

The last 90 to 180 days, as a CSV. At minimum it needs these columns:

    • Year
    • Make
    • Model
    • Trim
    • Exterior color
    • Interior color
    • Sale price
    • Sale date

The more data the better. If your CRM will let you pull further back than 180 days, take it. More history means the gaps show up sharper, and it is what lets you tell a real pattern from a slow month.

  3. Two or three competitor dealer websites

The ones you actually lose deals to. Have them in mind before you sit down.

Setup checklist.

Complete every step before the session. Your progress is saved in this browser, so you can work through it across a few sittings.

0 of 6

  1. Create a GitHub account

Free. Sign up before the session so nothing is waiting on an email confirmation.

  2. Install Git on your laptop

This is different from having a GitHub account. Mac usually has it already. Windows users should install it from git-scm.com.

  3. Create a Supabase account and a new project

Free. Project setup takes a couple of minutes, so do this ahead of time rather than during the session.

  4. Upgrade to a Claude Pro plan

$20/month minimum. The free plan does not include Claude Code.

  5. Install Claude Code

Mac or Linux: open your terminal and run the command below. Windows: check the docs for current installation instructions, as the Windows steps change from time to time. Once installed, run claude and log in with your Pro account.

    curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash
  6. Know how to open a terminal

Mac: Terminal. Windows: PowerShell or Windows Terminal. A code editor like VS Code is nice to have, but it is not required.

Verify it worked.

Open your terminal and run these two commands. If both return a version number, you are ready.

terminal

claude --version
git --version

Either one printing command not found means that install did not finish. Sort it out before the session, not during it.

Before you ask.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Claude Code writes the code for you based on plain-language instructions. What you need is to be comfortable following setup steps and typing in a terminal.

What does this cost?

GitHub and Supabase are both free for everything this session covers. Claude Code requires a Claude Pro plan, $20/month minimum.

Is my sales data safe?

Your CRM export stays on your own laptop and in your own Supabase project. You will not upload it anywhere before the session, and the session covers keeping it out of any public code repository.

What if I get stuck on setup?

Reach out before the session so it can get resolved ahead of time. Showing up without a working setup means you are behind for the full session.
